This year’s spring rains have been some of the best for many years. Goldrush hasn’t seen the countryside look so good for a while and the farmers we’ve met while out flying are saying it has been a great season. Green crops of canola (the yellow flowers dropped last month) stand over a metre tall in some places. The King, Ovens and Kiewa rivers have all been full to overflowing at stages and there is not a dry billabong in northeast Victoria.
